Challenge

Finding the Right I.T. for Warehouse Operations

With a multitude of softwareand hardware options available, Transnational Foods required input from an expert in the field. First of all, to take part in the selection process, to make shure the most appropriate tools were chosen. But that was not all: these experte should also provide support throughout the implementation process.

Knowing that the implementation of new technologies can be very complex, Transnational Foods considered necessary to reduce the error margin to a minimum.

GlobalTech, along with partner company Neologistix, was selected by Transnational Foods to conduct a comprehensive logistics consulting project in its warehousing operation in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Solution

Matching Proceses with Resources

The project consisted of an extensive evaluation of internal warehouse procedures, identify opportunities for improvement that enhance the effects of systematization. This action was taken in minute detail, working inch by inch with the customer. As a result of the review, an operational re-design was developed, to ensure optimal use of facilities and human resources.

Along with this, a hardware and software selection process was carried out, evaluating the different alternatives available. The decision was made to incorporate RF (radio frequency) technology to streamline warehouse operation times and improve efficiency and control levels. To achieve this goal, DEPOT WMS was selected as the warehouse’s management software.

The new technology implementation process was carried out by a team of GlobalTech and Neologistix personnel, working along Transnational Foods staff. The goal was to train warehouse staff in an orderlly manner, reducing operational error and reducing the learning curve. As part of this implementation, DEPOT WMS was integrated with the Edible Software ERP.

As a result of the project Transnational Foods led its Norfolk operation to a new level of efficiency and quality.
